ā€‹ā€‹Dominican to Celebrate Indigenous Peoplesā€™ Day with Speakers, Songs, Culture

¹ū¶³“«Ć½ will celebrate Indigenous Peoplesā€™ Day on October 14 in partnership with the Coast Miwok Tribal Council of Marin, The Marin Indian Alliance, the Cultural Conservancy, the Miwok Archeological Preserve of Marin, and the Museum of the American Indian. 

ā€œJoin us to celebrate the rich culture of indigeneity while learning about the work of Marinā€™s indigenous community organizations to heal, revitalize, and continue the traditions of the landsā€™ first peoples,ā€ says Louis Knecht, university archivist and reference and instruction librarian.

The program begins at 5 p.m. on the lawn outside Angelico Hall with a ribbon cutting ceremony for Coast Miwok signage indicating the unceded land Dominican occupies.  

The program then continues from 5:30-7 p.m. on the Anne Hathaway Lawn. The evening includes: 

5:30 p.m. Welcome and Unole womenā€™s drum 
5:40 p.m. Coast Miwok speakers, songs, culture
6:20 p.m. Words from community organizations
6:40 p.m. Unole womenā€™s drum
7:00 p.m. Closing prayer
